MIT Forum of Texas
Founded in 1978 in Cambridge, Massachusetts, the MIT Enterprise Forum, Inc. is a
non-profit organization dedicated to promoting and strengthening the way new
companies get their start and to providing information for them to grow and
prosper.
Membership in the Forum is provided through the network of 18 chapters across
the United States and in Mexico, Canada, Switzerland, Israel, Japan, and Taiwan.
Chapter membership is open to all -- MIT Graduates or non-graduates -- and
attracts local executives, business leaders, venture capitalists, industry
experts, and service organizations, as well as newly emerging entrepreneurs with
technology business ideas and expectations.
Since 1984, the MIT Enterprise Forum of Texas, based in Houston, Texas, has
offered a basic group of services, which includes professional seminars,
start-up clinics, business plan workshops, case presentations, and networking
opportunities with peers, business specialists and venture capitalists.
The Houston chapter has two main events each month for ten months of the year.
The Flagship Presentations provide seminars and case studies that are open to
the public. Flagship presentations focus on emerging companies that are looking
to expand their business. The New Venture Clinic provides a more intimate look
at a company in the startup or business-planning stage and is by invitation
only. Most of the local events are held at the Houston Engineering and
Scientific Society (HESS) on 5430 Westheimer, Houston. www.mitforumtexas.org
